Regathering at TCC!

I’m so thrilled to announce that we are able to meet onsite again. I can’t wait to see you and be with you as we gather together onsite in person.

Before we talk about what this new onsite format will be like – because it is going to be different – let me say a big, “THANK YOU” for the way you’ve been connected and engaged online. I’ve been so proud of the way you made the best of this interruption in our normal church life while at the same time having your entire world thrown into varying degrees of chaos. You amaze me, and I’m proud to be one of your pastors.

We’ve been getting ready for our return for the past couple of months. The building has been through a detailed cleaning and made ready for us to come back again.

Here’s the first detail that is different: Our service times will be 9:00 and 11:00am as we determine the best way to serve you and observe all the health guidelines designed to keep us safe.

Here are the (current) regathering options:

Gather Online

You can still watch the service from our TCC APP, the TCC Website or your favorite streaming platform. This option will be for all who aren’t comfortable being in a room with others at this point in the COVID-19 pandemic. Let me encourage you to make the wise choice considering your vulnerability during this season of regathering. The online option will be a good option for those who have health concerns, or are at higher levels of risk, or who have young children.

We’ve been able to take huge strides in making the online experience as best we can, and I hope you will feel good about making that choice. If you’re struggling with anxiety or fear about gathering together in a group of 100 people, please don’t feel pressure to come in the first few weeks. If you’re unable to register for a service time because it has filled up, please make sure to gather online until a future opportunity becomes available.

Gather OnSite

This will be the live experience we will be using to stream the service online. We are limited to 100 people in this room as per the guidelines for churches given by the state of CA for maximum per room. We will have the room set up to help facilitate social distancing guidelines.

Here are the safety guidelines we ask you to follow for our on-site gathering:

  • Face coverings are required while inside the church building.
  • Social distancing – staying six feet apart – will be practiced.
  • Please refrain from physical contact, like handshakes, fist bumps, or hugging someone who is not from your family.
  • Please wash or sanitize your hands while onsite.
  • Please don’t come if you are ill or exhibiting signs of illness.
  • Please don’t come if you are in an at-risk category.
  • Please cough or sneeze into your arm.
  • Please come 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the service so we can seat people safely.
  • Please follow all instructions even if you may think they don’t apply to you.
  • Please contact the church as soon as you are able if you test positive for COVID-19 after attending a service.
  • Please follow the signs that will direct you to the designated entrance and exit.
  • Please follow the instructions you will be given from our greeters and staff.

Here’s what you can count on from us:

  • There will be no coffee bar or bookstore available.
  • We ask that you not gather in the lobby so please gather outside instead.
  • All surfaces will be sanitized before and after each service.
  • Programs and Message Notes will be available as you enter the auditorium.
  • Offerings will be received at baskets as you exit the auditorium.
  • All restrooms will be sanitized and cleaned before and after each service.
  • Children and Student Ministry will not be available in the early stages of regathering. They will gather in our adult services with their family.

We recognize that this won’t be church as we remember and long to experience again, AND at the same time, we look forward to what God is going to do in this new season. No matter how church looks or how we feel, the goal isn’t that we are pleased, the goal is that we lift up the name of Jesus and make much of Him.

Please pray, pray, pray that there is no transmission of the virus that can be traced back to any of our Nevada County churches. Our county officials have been pleased with the cooperation of all the churches to get back on-site, and we want to maintain our positive witness and reputation. We are so excited to have some of our church family present as we look forward to that day in the future when we can all gather together.

This season may feel different in a way that causes us to feel sad for what we’ve lost, and I can already tell you that I will feel that along with you. I’m reminding myself that God is in charge, and that we can trust His sovereignty during these upcoming days of regathering. We may be surprised at what God does in and for us through this time. Also, I keep reminding myself that God wants to show all of His gifts of the Fruit of the Spirit through me – especially patience. Let’s be patient with the process, one another, and ourselves.
