“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
A.W. Tozer
If you were asked to describe God, what would you say? How would you describe Him? Every one of us views God through our own personal lens based on our experience with Him or from people who claim to associate with Him. We have many different ideas of who God is that were formed by culture, media, family, religion, and personal experience.
But how do we know we have a correct view of God? If it’s really the most important thing about us, then it’s vitally essential that we have an accurate view of God. Even though we’ve not seen God, we do have clear and understandable descriptions He gave us about who He is and how we can experience Him. God has revealed Himself, and He wants to be known by you.
In the Old Testament book of Exodus, Moses asks God to reveal Himself, and God answered that request through a self-disclosure statement.
“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in
steadfast love and faithfulness, maintaining steadfast love to thousands and forgiving
wickedness, rebellion, and sin. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished…
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD whose name is Jealous,
is a jealous God.” Exodus 34:6-7a;14 NIV
I encourage you to journey with us as we gather on Sunday mornings and consider the most important thing about us – what we think about God. We will study eight of His attributes that define His never-changing, consistent, and trustworthy character. There is no greater pursuit in life than to have an accurate understanding of God and experience a life-giving relationship with Him. Our faith and hope are founded on knowing God for who He reveals Himself to be.

This SUNDAY, we get to take an inside look at another aspect of God that many find troubling. The message is called, God Is Jealous. It’s based upon God’s words from Exodus 34:14 when He says to Moses, “Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” One reason it’s hard for us to grasp this aspect of God is that human jealousy is seen as a negative trait, even a sin. So, how could God be God and have this negative trait? Well, let me invite you to be at church this week or if you can’t be there to watch online. I will do my best to help us understand what the Bible says about God Is Jealous. It’s key to a flourishing life.
We also get to hang together before and after church because it’s DONUT SUNDAY. Please plan to stick around with some sweet people.

I hope you will make sure to gather with us on Sunday in person or online.
