Dear My Dear Supporters,
First, I would like to apologize to those who wrote me individually with many kind words and encouragement but I was not able to reply individually. I was planning to do so after I return home and I sincerely hope you would understand.
I am doing very well. Everything is moving along like an well-oiled machine. We finished the first seminar and we are now in full swing of studying Paul’s letter to Ephesus deeply. We will finish this a day ahead of schedule. The first movie (Ben-Hur) was shown and the Nepali subtitle I put together needs huge improvement but they still seemed to have enjoyed it a lot. (Some even asked for popcorns!)
I am physically tired but feeling great, enjoying this weather with heavy downpour once almost every day (I seldom go out), even getting used to their diet of almost exclusively on rice, potatoes and beans. They have this tiny hot chilly that I bit off tiniest bits with meal that help me a lot.
Pastor Bir gave me the honor or preaching at his church the past Saturday and that was great. (picture)
Jane is feeling better at home, also.
What a different a week makes! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS. THEY WORKED MIGHTILY. As you can see, I am hard pressed here to come up with urgent prayer requests new. Perhaps, now is the time for us to give a BIG praise to God together!
After finishing the seminars on this Wednesday, we are planning to travel to the country on Thursday. Few of us will go to town Gorkha about 3 hours away and stay overnight. This is very significant place in Nepali history. I am hoping to visit few churches on the way. Please pray for travel mercy on us. (I was warned multiple times that it will be hot there—please pray for a tolerable weather there, also.) I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful countryside of this country and finding out what it’s like driving average 23 MPH (my calculation) on the interstate freeway to get there. I intend to take many pictures and share them with you later.
Here is something I want to share with you today in lieu of me trying to tell you more about this nation I interviewed two people from the class about their life, church and background. I am attaching separately my writeups of those interviews including some of their pictures. Please read these if you would like to know more about the people, their world and their faith life.
The first person, Pastor Tek, served me greatly the past two weeks as one of two translators.
The second person, Ms. Junu, was happened to be sitting in the middle up-front on the first day and I had her read the Bible verses on the screen aloud for the class and ever since she became the designated reader and we all loved hearing her clear, cheery voice many times each day.
Here they are and I hope you enjoy knowing them.
Having a great fun serving Him,
Jay
PS. Even the issue of providing a writing surface for them was solved by a suggestion and contribution of one of you supporters. We supplied them a clipboard each and that is helping a lot.
