We take the next steps in our walk toward unity this Sunday! Your weekly comments are evidence that this series is speaking to us in ways that leave us full of hope and thrilled about God’s Word and how it speaks to the issues we face today. We’ve learned so much, and yet it’s not just about learning, it’s about becoming ONE. Our ONE series is right out of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus where he reminds us to hold on to our identity in Jesus and the things that unite us and make us one. He wants us to walk in unity, and when we do we become a force of harmony and a witness for Jesus to all to whom we meet.
This Sunday, we will get to see what it means to have ONE BAPTISM. Baptism is a divisive issue in many homes because there are so many different views on the whole subject. The conflict usually centers on these issues – Infant vs. Adult, Sprinkling vs. Immersion, or Essential to Salvation vs. Expression of Salvation. The Bible does have a lot to say about this ordinance. An ordinance is an order by Jesus for His church to follow. Therefore, just as communion is an essential part of our walk with Jesus, baptism is just as necessary for our faith. I look forward to painting a picture of the act of baptism and its importance in our unity and your walk with Jesus.
