“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
A.W. Tozer
If you were asked to describe God, what would you say? How would you describe Him? Every one of us views God through our own personal lens based on our experience with Him or from people who claim to associate with Him. We have many different ideas of who God is that were formed by culture, media, family, religion, and personal experience.
But how do we know we have a correct view of God? If it’s really the most important thing about us, then it’s vitally essential that we have an accurate view of God. Even though we’ve not seen God, we do have clear and understandable descriptions He gave us about who He is and how we can experience Him. God has revealed Himself, and He wants to be known by you.
In the Old Testament book of Exodus, Moses asks God to reveal Himself, and God answered that request through a self-disclosure statement.
“The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in
steadfast love and faithfulness, maintaining steadfast love to thousands and forgiving
wickedness, rebellion, and sin. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished…
Do not worship any other god, for the LORD whose name is Jealous,
is a jealous God.” Exodus 34:6-7a;14 NIV
I encourage you to journey with us as we gather on Sunday mornings and consider the most important thing about us – what we think about God. We will study eight of His attributes that define His never-changing, consistent, and trustworthy character. There is no greater pursuit in life than to have an accurate understanding of God and experience a life-giving relationship with Him. Our faith and hope are founded on knowing God for who He reveals Himself to be.

Welcome to Fall at TCC. We are thrilled to begin a new message series called Seven Signs. This series will come right from the historical writings of the Apostle John as he recorded just seven of the miracles performed by Jesus when He was alive. John doesn’t use the word that would typically be translated as “miracle.” Instead, he uses the word that is translated as “sign.” He doesn’t leave us guessing as to why he chose this purpose. He believes that these miracles are signs that direct us to see Jesus as Messiah – so they portray His mission, and they direct us to see that God meets us in the mess of our lives. God has the power to change our mess into something lovely and beautiful.
This SUNDAY we begin with Jesus Turning Water Into Wine, and we get to see how God’s power is available to us to transform our disappointments into joy. You may be familiar with this recounting of Jesus’ first sign/miracle, and I thought I was as well. But just as God does so many times, He surprised me as I dug deeper. Will you join us on Sunday – online or in-person as we kick off this series? You might even want to tell a friend or neighbor and give them a warm invitation to join you.
Guys, I hope you’ll check out the Men’s Dinner and buy a ticket so you can have a great burger, be with some of the TCC men, and watch as our guest speaker breaks some stuff! It’s going to be an inspiring evening. Just go to our website and register there.
