God is doing something NEW! We could feel that as we celebrated Easter. What a collective expression of joy and hope! We came together to focus on the most important day of our Christian faith in a way that could only be described as supernaturally energized. Thank you to everyone who made the services so awesome.
We began on Saturday with the Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt. Let’s make sure to thank Bobby Breaux, Alexis LaCentra, and Hope Corstorphine for being so innovative and taking a situation that looked impossible and creating such a fun experience for both kids and parents. One parent told me that it was such a success that we should do something like this every year. He was so excited that his kids received more than candy this year. They were able to hear the story of the resurrection and see just how our church supports so many different organizations in our community as we share the hope of Jesus. YAY!
The Easter services were pretty amazing as well. I mentioned in my message that Twin Cities is not the same as it was thirteen months ago. There is something new and different. We’ve all been changed, and part of that transformation is a deeper longing to express our worship and hearts to God with our church family.
Let me take a moment and express a big word of GRATITUDE for everyone who served in some capacity to make our Easter experience so wonderful. Thank you. If you’d like to engage and serve in any capacity, please drop an email to Joanie.
Serve Our Community is happening in a new way this year. We’re still going out to serve our schools and ministry partners as we always have. The big difference this year is that we’re extending it to two weekends, so we can best accommodate smaller service teams. We want everyone to know they can serve knowing that we’re taking all the safety precautions we can. The dates are Saturday, April 24 and Saturday, May 1. You can look over the various service projects on our website and sign up now to make sure you get your top preference.
Friday, April 16 is our next Drive-Thru Food Drive to support the efforts of Interfaith Food Ministry to feed the hungry. Make sure to gather your non-perishable food items and drop them off any time from 8:00-10:30am. We’ll have a team of friendly folks here to take them – you don’t even have to get out of your car. If you want to come help unload cars, just show up at 8:00. More people make it more fun!
On Sunday we will begin our new series called The Good Life. In my message from March 7, I talked about our vision to experience the life of Jesus, learn the teachings of Jesus and share the hope of Jesus. Well, this series speaks to all of those, but especially to the idea of learning the teachings of Jesus. We’re committing ourselves to digging into Jesus’ most famous of teachings called the Sermon on the Mount. This first section of messages will focus on Jesus’ words that we call the Beatitudes, or as some scholars say, “Beautiful Attitudes to Be.”
Folks, as Followers of Jesus, we need this series now more than ever as we seek to live in the times in which we have been placed. Jesus shows us a clear path to a life that is better than the one culture offers. He gives us clear instructions on how to navigate in the times we find ourselves.
