We take the next steps in our walk toward unity this Sunday! Last Sunday, Pastor Mark did such an excellent job of bringing us to the point of agreeing that being ONE BODY is such an important part of our calling to live lives that make much of Jesus. Our ONE series is right out of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus where he reminds us to hold on to the things that unite us and make us one. He wants us to walk in unity, and when we do we become a force of harmony and a witness for Jesus to all to whom we meet. This Sunday we get to look at what it means to have ONE SPIRIT. Remember, unity is not a self-produced reality. It’s not about willing ourselves to treat one another better. Instead, it’s a Spirit-driven purpose. God places His Spirit in all who say YES to Jesus, and one of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to transform or shape us to look like Jesus. I’m excited to focus on the fact that there is ONE SPIRIT available as we walk toward unity with one another.
We introduced our 2023 Church Prayer on January 8. Will you join us in praying for the impact of our church in this coming year? Prayer can be a unifying activity as we engage together in doing the same thing each week for an entire year. This prayer challenge can be a catalyst for unity as we come before God with the same prayers five days per week for 52 weeks. I am eager to see how God is going to use this. We are called to be more than attendees; we are the dwelling place of His Spirit, sent to reflect His heart in the world. This conversation will challenge the way we define success as a church. If we truly are the body of Christ, how do we measure whether we’re living out that calling? Hint: it’s not about counting attendance or the quality of our programs. Over the last couple of weekends, we have been exploring the good news that, in Christ, God has broken down every dividing wall to create one united family. Though we may come from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, God weaves us together into a beautiful mosaic — His Church. Yet, many of us struggle to believe that we truly belong. We carry doubts about our worthiness, shaped by our past, our insecurities, and even our earthly relationships. This week, we’ll explore Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21, where he prays that we might not only know, but rest in the overwhelming love of our Heavenly Father. By the way, you don’t have to go halfway around the world to make a difference. Next Thursday, a group from TCC will be heading down to Convoy of Hope’s facility in Sacramento to help pack up a shipment of supplies to help those impacted by the fires in SoCal. Last week, we explored how God’s amazing grace transforms our relationship with Him. This week, we’ll see how it also changes the way we relate to one another. As we dive into the second half of Ephesians 2, we’ll discover that God’s grace is the great equalizer that levels the playing field for all of us, no matter our background. In addition, we’ll be celebrating baptisms in both services this Sunday. Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, I want to invite you on a journey of discovering your true identity In Christ . This Sunday, we’ll kick off a foundational new message series walking through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Together, we’ll explore what it means to live In Christ , finding our identity, purpose, and blessings through Him. Ephesians reminds us that our worth isn’t found in what we do or what’s been done to us, but in who we are as redeemed, chosen, and beloved people of God. It’s an invitation to step off the hamster wheel of performance and rest in the grace and love found only in Him. As we journey through this series, I also want to encourage you to dive into Scripture this year. What a joy it was to celebrate Christmas Eve with so many of you this week! From the glow of candlelight to the sound of our church family worshipping the Prince of Peace, it was a beautiful reminder of the hope and peace we have in Jesus. Christmas might be over, but the celebration isn’t. This Sunday, we’ll continue the celebration with our annual Remember and Celebrate service. Together, we’ll look back on the past year and reflect on God’s incredible faithfulness in our lives and in our church. It’s a time to give thanks, share stories of His goodness, and renew our hope for the year ahead. We’ll also celebrate communion together, remembering the gift of grace that binds us together as a family of faith. With the start of a New Year just a few days away, I also want to invite you on a journey through God’s word.
