Last Sunday, we got to celebrate as 24 people went public with their decision to follow Jesus through baptism. I am constantly in awe of the lives God is radically changing and the work He is doing in our community.
Speaking of work, over the last couple months, we’ve been exploring what the opening chapters of Genesis tell us about our purpose here on Earth. As we’ve seen, God made us in His image to partner with Him in moving the world forward, making it a more gardenlike place. And yet, does what we do here and now really matter in light of eternity? Why make the world a more gardenlike place if it’s all going to burn in the end? Why worry about Earth at all if we’re going to spend eternity in Heaven?
This weekend, we will explore the significance of our work in light of the afterlife. As we will see, many of us carry around quite a few misconceptions of the afterlife that are not reflected in Scripture. And we will find that what we do really does impact eternity.
