Receive Encouragement + Sunday Morning Resources

Wow, talk about snow! I would have never dreamed that we would have two major snowstorms in Nevada County the last two winters. Snowmageddon 2022 and Snowmess 2023 both left many of us reeling. I was without power for 72 hours in this last storm, and we received 20” of snow at my house! In my 31 years in Nevada County, I’ve never witnessed a snow event like we saw this week. I’m mostly referring to the number of days in a row where we received that much snow. And guess what? It’s supposed to snow again this weekend.

This gives me a chance to talk about our Sunday Snow Day Policy. Here it is: If we can get to church, we will have church no matter the weather. That’s it. If we can’t get there, we will alert you on Sunday morning by email or social media. Just a tidbit here – soon we will be able to deliver alerts by text since that’s the way most of us communicate in today’s world. Please make sure you make the safest decision for you as you choose what to do on a snowy day.

This Sunday we will do the following: Celebrate 31 years as a church, celebrate Jesus and His redemptive story as we watch 14 people get baptized, eat lots of donuts, and begin our new Message Series – Stand Firm. This message series will help us know how to stand firm in the face of adversity from those who stand against the Gospel message of Jesus. This is a perfect series for the time in which we live. The first message is Receive Encouragement. We will dig into 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12. When you read those verses before Sunday, you will be amazed at how much we need to comprehend and be enraptured by the truths of the justice of God. Folks, this series is one of the most sobering I remember us ever doing. I hope you will come learn as Paul talks to us about how to Stand Firm between now and the future when Jesus comes again. You won’t want to miss Sunday. If you don’t think it’s safe to drive – we are supposed to get another storm this weekend – please stay home and watch the service online.

Resting in the Father’s Love + An Opportunity to Serve

Over the last couple of weekends, we have been exploring the good news that, in Christ, God has broken down every dividing wall to create one united family. Though we may come from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, God weaves us together into a beautiful mosaic — His Church. Yet, many of us struggle to believe that we truly belong. We carry doubts about our worthiness, shaped by our past, our insecurities, and even our earthly relationships. This week, we’ll explore Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21, where he prays that we might not only know, but rest in the overwhelming love of our Heavenly Father. By the way, you don’t have to go halfway around the world to make a difference. Next Thursday, a group from TCC will be heading down to Convoy of Hope’s facility in Sacramento to help pack up a shipment of supplies to help those impacted by the fires in SoCal. This Sunday, we’ll kick off a foundational new message series walking through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Together, we’ll explore what it means to live In Christ , finding our identity, purpose, and blessings through Him. Ephesians reminds us that our worth isn’t found in what we do or what’s been done to us, but in who we are as redeemed, chosen, and beloved people of God. Let’s Celebrate God’s Faithfulness + Sunday Morning Resources

What a joy it was to celebrate Christmas Eve with so many of you this week! From the glow of candlelight to the sound of our church family worshipping the Prince of Peace, it was a beautiful reminder of the hope and peace we have in Jesus. Christmas might be over, but the celebration isn’t. This Sunday, we’ll continue the celebration with our annual Remember and Celebrate service. Together, we’ll look back on the past year and reflect on God’s incredible faithfulness in our lives and in our church. It’s a time to give thanks, share stories of His goodness, and renew our hope for the year ahead. We’ll also celebrate communion together, remembering the gift of grace that binds us together as a family of faith. With the start of a New Year just a few days away, I also want to invite you on a journey through God’s word.
