I want to begin with a huge thank you to everyone who helped make the Fall Family Festival a success yesterday. Halloween can be a dark time, but yesterday our church family shined a bright light into the Nevada County community. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness – only light can do that.” Yesterday, we saw that light shining through each of you who volunteered.
As we turn our attention to the upcoming election, I know that many of us feel a growing sense of anxiousness over the outcome. That’s why this Sunday, we will bring those feelings and the election itself before God and invite His will to be done. We will do that in two ways. Sunday morning, I will be sharing a message to help us view the election through Christ-centered lenses. This will not be a partisan message, but rather a time to view the election through our identity as citizens of the Kingdom of God who have been placed here to image God.
Then, Sunday evening, I invite you to join me and pastors from across Nevada County as we gather to pray for the outcome of the election. This All-Church Prayer Gathering will be held at Sierra Presbyterian Church at 6:00pm Sunday. Regardless of how you’re planning to vote, I hope you’ll join us to entrust the outcome of the election to our God.

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday,
